POLICIES
- ADMISSION:
To be admitted, a child must be
three or four years of age by December 1st. It is strongly recommended
that children be toilet-trained before entering nursery school.
- ORIENTATION:
Prior to the opening day, a
Parent Orientation program is held. In addition, each child is visited
at home by his/her teacher in early September.
- CONFERENCES:
Parent-teacher conferences
are scheduled in the fall and spring.
Parents are welcome in the classrooms and are encouraged to maintain
ongoing communication with their child's teacher.
COMMUNICATION:
All parents are given a
school handbook at Parent Orientation. Communication throughout
the year is accomplished via monthly newsletters and information
posted on the
bulletin boards.
- HEALTH:
A physical examination form,
signed by your doctor and including immunization records, is required.
This form will be sent to you upon registration and is
due prior to the first day of school.
- WITHDRAWALS:
If, for any reason, it becomes
necessary for you to withdraw your child, please notify the school as
soon as possible. When withdrawal occurs while school is in session, one
month advance notice is required. Otherwise it is necessary to charge one month's tuition after
the date of withdrawal.
- PARENT INVOLVEMENT:
Parents are invited
and encouraged to share their interests and talents in the
classroom, to assist with special classroom projects and field
trips, and to attend parent education programs.
- GIFT-GIVING POLICY:
In lieu of gifts to teachers, we ask that you give a
gift of your time (make doll or dress-up clothes, repair toys,
etc) or
a gift to the school (book, puzzle, game, etc.) In December a
"wish list" will be posted indicating items needed in the classrooms
in case you wish to make such a donation.
- SCHOOL CALENDAR:
Holidays, vacations and snow days
are observed in accordance with the Union-Endicott School
District. However, some variations will occur due to District or
Nursery School conference days.
- DISCIPLINE:
Consistent, clear rules in
Nursery School help to keep everyone safe and happy. When a
child's behavior puts his own or another's safety and happiness at
risk, changing that behavior is necessary. The teacher's role in
dealing with these behaviors is to provide guidance toward
self-discipline, both for the children directly involved and those
who are observing the situation.
- TESTING:
When screening tests are
available, you will be notified and results will be reported to
you. If developmental, psychological or other testing is
indicated, you will be referred to persons who provide these
special services.
